The Best Play Date EVER!
Last week the kids and I finally made it to visit our friends. They have four kids, T is 8, K and F are 6, and M is 2. The kids had a blast. they spent hours coming up with a show and then the performed it for us. My kids got in the car and were all asking when are we going back. To others it may have looked like just a day of play. But there was so much more going on. Corporation, valuing others ideas, choreographing, language arts, communicating ideas, to each other and to an audience. I love getting to see my kids learning, so much.
I dont know How you send your kids to school
When people here that I home school, I often hear, "I don't know how you do it, I need my kids to go to school"
I don't know how Moms send there kids to school. the getting everyone ready fed and out the door with there right stuff, everyday.
Homework!!! Hours upon hours of more work for kids who have done enough all day. Keeping up with everything that is going on in every one's classroom. Being tied to someone else clock.
Most days we have a relaxed morning, get up dressed and eat. We all hate the mornings of rushing around. Homework I cant even imagine...
My kids are to busy learning everything to go to school!!

What we do...
I often get asked how do you homeschool? What do you teach your kids? Well I have a few answers I give. If I want to end the conversation with someone who is just being a bother, i give an answer like oh they have their stuff they have to do. If it someone really interested I might explain we are relaxed and my kids mostly learn as we living. They do some work on reading and math. We get together with friends to explore art, and learn about astronomy. We follow our passions, and learn what we are truly interested in. Right now we are learning about Christmas, Hanukkah and traditions. We have spent several months learning about the revolutionary war and that time period. So far it is Johns favorite time in history. I am planning to take him to do a tour of Boston this spring.
We use http://www.worldbook.com/typical-course-of-study just to have a general idea of what topics we want to touch on. If it is of interest we dive in.

Our favorite Place
Our Favorite place to visit is our Local Library. We are truly blessed to have a wonderful library, awesome librarians. We live a 5 minute walk from the library. It is truly a wonderful place. We go to get new books, movies, visit with friends, story times, crafts. We use the "Big Room" for our Exploring Art group. We use a quite study room for our Astronomy class. We would truly be lost without our Library. We are often there several times a week. and really don't like the days they are closed. John, Zoe, and Patti, enjoy playing on the computer, reading books, playing with toys, and puzzles. We have all made some friends there.
